Meeting Minutes

May 14, 2018

Call to Order
It began at 7:36 and was presided over by Joe Humberton, with Dan Failacci as secretary.

Approval of Previous Minutes:
April Booster Meeting minutes approved.  

President’s Report:  Executive Board met for May.  
  • Budget reviewed as always
  • Discussed upcoming band season
  • Upcoming events were reviewed
    • Jazz Night 5/14 – 7:30pm
  • Board approved to pay Kim a stipend for conducting the musical.
Vice President’s Report:  
  • None
Secretary:  
  • Thank you to everyone who submitted your volunteer hours.  We submitted over 6000 hours of service for the 2017-2018 school year.
Treasurer:     
  • For Apr:  ~$18.9k incoming, ~$16.6k outgoing
  • Quickbook accounts are now linked to the budget.  
  • Budget will be attached to the email distributing the booster minutes every month.
  • Raffle permit renewed.
  • See Dana for specific details/questions.
Directors Report:
  • Thursday guard/percussion  - 6-9pm
  • Marching band up and running
    • Saturday Jun 2 first day with everyone together for marching.  Practice will go until 4pm.  
    • New member and leadership May 31.  
    • Bands Of America (BOA) mid-atlantic regional at the University of Delaware.  
    • Still doing a show at Urbana and the Marine Corp Invitational.
    • As always – see the google calendar for schedule
    • Monday 5/21 Marine music placement director coming to TJ
  • FCC scholarships – check the email.  They are very generous, so students should apply.
  • Graduation - 5/29.  Can only take 30 bodies.  All Juniors from concert band and outdoor drum goes, plus whatever instruments are needed.  Permission slips coming home to selected students.
  • Clinical day for winds at TJ in Jun.  Email coming.
  • Jazz Night May 19 – Doors open at 5pm
Student Accounts:
  • Only 7 students with outstanding balances from last year
  • Payments already coming in for next season.  See website for payment due dates

Committee Reports

Fundraising:
Kate Dudash will be stepping in as the new fundraising chairperson for next year.  Thank you Kate!
  • Fundraising made budget for the year with 1 large event to go (Jazz Night)
  • Yard sale 4/28.  Just over $500 this year.  Not much traffic due to other local events/activities.  Consider moving back to fall
  • Hershey Park – $2278.78
  • Restaurant night – Tue Jun 12, 4-8pm Chipolte at Wormans Mill (near Wegmans).  
  • Jazz night – 5/19.  Sign up genius coming out. Looks like it will be a full program – including dance lessons.  Mike K to be the auctioneer.  Looking for donations.  There will also be a silent cake auction.  TJ Middle, Monocacy Middle, FRYO and faculty combo will be participating.  Check the sign up genius to see where you can help out.
  • Hamilton - ~100 tickets sold.  3 major locations for setting up a table – Brainstorm comics, Dublin Roasters and Westview.  Event shared on Find Out First
  • Car washes – 5 dates have been set up for car washes this year.  Still at Wolf’s Furniture on Rt 40, 1-5pm
    • Jun 23, Jul 7, Jul 21, Jul 28, Aug  11.  Ellen Miguinnes will be assisting and taking over for Alice.
  • March a Thon will be starting soon
Uniform Report:
Transition starting between Teresa and Trish.  Marching uniforms picked up by Zips.  Want to start measuring now for marching.  All guard has been measured so far.  Uniform room could use another assistant.  If you have availability during the day especially – please contact Teresa or Trish to see how you can help.

Pit Crew report:
In need of a new Pit Crew Boss for next year

Chaperones:  
Jamie Hendi will continue to run chaperones next season
