Meeting Minutes

December 12, 2016

Present: Joe Humbertson, Dawn Humbertson,  Kathy Higinbotham, Peter Ricciuti, Kim Sandifer. Peter Ricciuti,  Dan Failacci, Kathy Higinbotham,  Chris Voell,   Traci Poppart, Theresa Anderson, Greg Anderson, Nancy Voell, Dana Cunningham,

The meeting was called to order at 7:35 pm

Motion to approve November minutes : Dan Failacci, 2nd  Dawn Humbertson  - approved.

President’s report: Joe Humbertson
  • Thanks to fund raiser volunteers who made all the band activities over the past few days a success.
  • At the December executive board meeting, the band’s insurance policy was discussed, a decision on the type of coverage will be made in Feburary 2017.   The indoor season budget was reviewed.
  • Received:  $1000 donation from Eyre Bus  - it will go to the scholarship fund.  The board discussed having someone be dedicated to raising money for the scholarship fund.
Directors Report: Ms. Sandifer
  • The indoor practices are going well – the number of students is up.
  • The Feeder concert is January 11
  • Concert Band season starts at the end of January
  • Adjudication is in March,  there will be an open rehearsal in early March to give parents the opportunity to watch the band get feedback from other band directors.
  • The Band Banquet is April 5.
  • Spring Concert is April 12
  • Band Camp – will be the same as previous years – last week of July and first week of August.  The times may be changed but that decision will be made later.
  • Jazz Night is May 20
Money raised through Donors Choose has resulted in the purchase of 9 Chromebooks for the students to use. - Thank you to donors.  

Fund Raising: Traci Poppart
  • Poinsettias and Wreaths brought in $1637 for the general fund and $1337 for the student funds.
  • Spin the Bottle, Breakfast with Santa, Chipotle (raised $311) fundraisers complete.  Discussion about increasing the frequency of Chipotle fundraiser.  Chris Voell volunteered to investigate.
  • Barnes and Noble:  $130 in donations + the % of sales – very successful.
  • Christmas Tree Pickup will be December 31 and January 7.  An email will go out soon.  Volunteers needed to distribute flyers.
  • A Paint Night is planned for February.
Uniform Report:  Preparation for indoor season is mostly done.
